Pure Cheddar

Few people reading this will know who I am but I was fortunate enough to have known Sanjay and thought I would share something.  Way back in 2002 my friend Karen invited me out to see Montana for the first time.  On my way there I stopped in Idaho to join Karen, Sanjay, and a bunch of other friends for some summertime fun.  The plan all along was for me to follow Karen back to Montana and I was expecting that to be a pretty lonely 6 hours of driving.  But Karen decided to let Sanjay keep me company for those nearly 400 miles.  We talked for almost the entire trip, mostly about random things, but one thing we talked about a lot was his dream of becoming an E.M.T. (which I happily learned he realized quite by accident while watching an episode of Mythbusters).  I remember he had great expressions for describing things that I had never heard before… one that comes to mind is "pure cheddar".  Thanks to Sanjay, I was at my destination before I knew it...

Sanjay spent a few more days in Montana while I was there.  One of those days Karen took us on a tour of the Gravelly Range near where she lived.  The views were, of course, spectacular and we saw some wildlife, too.  Along the way we had to stop to move a tree that had fallen and blocked our path.  Karen recently reminded me that I took a great picture of them that captured that moment.

Sanjay was one of the most delightful people I've ever met.  Our paths only crossed a few times but I considered him my friend and I am so sorry the world lost such a wonderful person.
